Transforming an Underused Website into a Community Engagement Tool
Keep Newnan Beautiful
Services: Website Development, User Experience Strategy, Website Compliance, Event Integration, Staff Training
The Challenge
Keep Newnan Beautiful is a nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental conservation, waste reduction, and community beautification efforts in Newnan, Georgia.
The organization already had a Wix website, but the platform was underutilized and lacked functionality that could effectively support its mission. Visitors needed a clearer way to find information about programs, resources, clean-up efforts, recycling initiatives, and volunteer opportunities, while the Keep Newnan Beautiful team needed a website they could easily maintain internally.
The Solution
Team EMILY began with a comprehensive website audit to identify gaps in functionality, usability, and content organization.
The existing Wix site was redesigned and restructured to create clearer navigation and make important information easier for community members to find. Clear calls to action were incorporated throughout the site to encourage volunteer sign-ups and participation in Keep Newnan Beautiful initiatives.
A dedicated events section was also developed to give the organization a centralized place to promote upcoming clean-ups, recycling events, and volunteer opportunities. Cookie consent and privacy policy features were incorporated to strengthen website compliance.
Expanding the Partnership
An important part of the project was making sure Keep Newnan Beautiful could continue using the website effectively after launch.
Team EMILY structured the events area so staff could easily add and update information internally and provided a customized tutorial packet explaining how to manage event content. This gave the organization greater control over its day-to-day digital communications without requiring outside support for routine updates.
The Impact
Keep Newnan Beautiful gained a more functional and user-friendly website that serves as an active resource for community engagement rather than simply an informational presence.
Improved navigation makes it easier for residents to explore programs and resources, while the dedicated events system creates a clearer pathway for discovering clean-ups, recycling initiatives, and volunteer opportunities. Calls to action throughout the site further support participation in the organization’s work.
Just as importantly, the new website structure and staff training gave Keep Newnan Beautiful the tools to manage its own event information efficiently, creating a sustainable digital foundation for continued community outreach and involvement.
